In the United States, as of August of 2008, Honda passed Chrysler as the 4th largest automobile manufacturer. In Japan, Honda is the second largest automobile manufacturer, behind Toyota and ahead of Nissan.
With gas prices in the United States being high during June of 2008, Honda actually posted a 1% sales increase over 2007. Honda was one of the few automobile manufacturers with good news, as Toyota, Ford, Dodge and General Motors all announced double-digit declines in sales numbers.
